  1. In a field in Ballyknockane there are five moats. These moats lie in a semi-circle around the field. They are about nine feet apart but they are all connected by a narrow ridge of land.
The first moat is long, it is about eighteen feet high and about fifteen feet wide. There is a grassy bank about two feet high going all round the foot of the moat. All the sods are gone off the west side of this moat.
Next to this is the largest moat of all. It is about twenty feet high and about sixteen feet wide. A narrow path runs across the top of this and down the side. On the other side is a whitethorn tree.
A round moat is beside this and there is a low wall about a foot high going across the top of the moat. This is about eighteen feet high and about fifteen feet wide.
