In the Well there is supposed to be a fish which, if seen by the Pilgrim is taken as a sign of the prayers been answered. This fish according to legend was at one time taken out of the Well by an unbeliever and brought to his home to be cooked on a gridiron, but when he placed it on the fire the fish disappeared and was again seen in the Well with the marks of the gridiron on its back.
