  1. There are three forges in this parish. The smiths' names are Bob Marsh, Tom Murphy and John Cawley. The forges are situated in Crossmolina two of them are situated beside a river. The roof of the forge is made of iron or cement. The inside of the forge is full of horse shoes and bits of iron. There is a fire always kept in the forge to warm the iron. When the iron is red hot it can be changed into any shape. There is a bellows beside the fire it is used for blowing the fire. The implements the smith uses
