  1. On St. Patrick's Day it was customary to take a burnt coal from the fire, cool it in water and then draw the sign of the cross on the arm with the burnt coal.
    This was supposed to save a person from illness or serious losses during the year.
    On St. Brigid's Night, sugáns of straw were made and kept carefully in the house.
    When the young calves were born, one of these sugans were made by the man
