    ditch where wind or rain cannot get at it. She lays four or five eggs and sits on them for about three weeks.
    The crows nest is found high up on a tree. It is made of sticks, mos, and hair from the locks of the collie. She lays four or five eggs.
    The blackbirds nest is found in a bush or in a clump of briars. She lays four eggs and sits on them for about a month.
    The sparrow builds her nest in a hedge and lays five or six eggs.
    The swallow's nest is found in the eaves of houses and occupies it every year. She lays three or four eggs. In winter the swallows migrate to other countries and returns towards the end of spring. The cuckoo builds no nest of her own but lays her eggs in the nest of another bird. She spends the summer in this country and then migrates to warmer countries in Winter.
    The pigeon builds her nest in an ivy tree and lays three or four blue eggs.
    The lark's nest is found in a hole in the ground in wet weather cattle and horses make holes in the ground with their feet and in one of these the lark builds his nest.
    When the swallow flies low we expect bad weather. When the swans come in from the sea we expect a storm.
