    Sixty years ago this place was abounding with foxes hence the name Carraig an tSionnaigh (Foxrock). It was then a wild uncultivated country and the foxes were let out from an arch in a field where Kerrymount Avenue is now situated. Hunts were frequently held and "The Hotel" situated beside Foxrock Railway station was a fashionable hotel for hunting people. This building is still known as the Hotel and is let to several families.
