  1. Miss Sheldon of Raphoe once told me quite seriously that she had seen a fairy one evening when she was walking along the road near what is described as a "haunted house" in the townland of Magherasollis. She was looking across a field and a short distance away a little old woman appeared, dressed in grey and with a red scarf around her head. She walked with a rather confident air as if the whole neighbourhood belonged to her, although she was only the height of a baby girl. My friend only got a glimpse of this unusual spectacle but enough to convince her of its reality. This happened many years ago but to this day I'm sure she could still bear evidence of what she then saw.
