    The following rhyme is often repeated about mag-pies:-
    One for sorrow,
    Two for joy
    Three a wedding
    Four a boy
    Five for silver
    Six for Gold
    Seven, a secret yet untold.
    To meet a red-haired woman first, on your way in the morning.
    It is considered unlucky for a wedding party to meet a funeral on the way to the Church.
    Happy is the bride that the sun shines on.
    Happy is the corpse that the rain rains on.
