    Weather Beliefs
    Alfred Mitchell, Ballycooney, Loughrea.
    Here are some weather beliefs, they may be true. If a pond of water is very still between five and seven o'clock in the evening, we are going to have frost that night. If wild Geese are seen early in winter we are going to have bad weather. If a dog sits with his back to the fire we are to get a big storm.
    If ducks are shrieking loudly we are going to have rain. If cattle have their backs turned to the wall we are to have a storm in a few days time. If sheep graze up a hill we are going to get fine weather, while on the other hand if they graze down we are to have very bad weather. If there is a ring around the moon we are to get frost.
    If the North wind blows we are to get snow. If we have a thick fog we are to get rain. If a robin comes in-side the door, we are to get snow. If the
