    holy wells. A person affected by a disease who visited any of these and performed a station and said certain prayers could be cured by some saint. There are various wells in theis district which people used to visit. Some of them are still to be seen in the locality. St Mogues by the shores of Lake Melvin and St Molash's overlooking Lake Melvin. They are both ancient and were well known for curing people of diseases. There is another belief that the seventh son or daughter has the cure of the ringworm.
