  1. In olden times several industries were carried on in this district such as forge work, thatching, spinning, weaving, dyeing, wood work and lime burning. Some of those are still carried on forge work, thatching, spinning, dyeing, wood work and lime burning. About a mile from our house there is a house there is a forge in which gates are made. Spinning is carried on in a few houses in the district. Long ago there were a few weavers in the district. There was one weaver in Aughagrania named William Noran and another in Laragan named Alexander Flynn. When they had the wool spun they used to used to bring it to the weaver an then it was woven into blankets. They used also knit socks and stockings out of the wool. Years ago the making of handwoven linen was very common in this district. The people used to sow flax. When the flax was cut it was
