  1. Match-making takes place in shrovetide. When a pair was going to get married the man (comes) went to the girls house to make the match. In a week or so they go to chapel and get married They went to the chapel on horseback. The young pair used to go on one horse. They raced from the chapel to the house to see who would be home first When they go inside the door the woman of the house broak the wedding cake on their heads. The girl never used to go back to her own house for a month.
