  1. In olden times hedge schools existed in this District.
    Those schools were situated, one in the Townland of Corafoora and the teachers name who taught in it was Alex McDonnell. The field is now called the school garden and it belongs now to Thomas Butler.
    The other was in Bannaghans meadow in the Townland of Greenawn and the teacher who taught in it was Mrs Moran. The meadow is now called the school meadow.
    Alec McDonnell was formerly teaching in Cavan school and he then came to Corofoora.
