“Once upon a time there were two brothers and their Grannie and a first cousin ...”
Once upon a time there were two brothers and their Grannie and a first cousin and his Granny living in a house together. One night the two brothers planned to kill the cousin and have all to themselves then So when he went to bed the brothers made it up that when he would be asleep they d kill him and the cousin was listening to all the talk and he changed his old Granny over to his bed. When they thought he was asleep they went up in the dark and killed the old Grannie instead of him. So when the brothers went to bed he got up and dressed the old Granny and when daylight came he started off with her on his back. So he started up to a big public house & as he was going up he met a big Spring well,(continues on next page)
