    Recitation
    Peter Flood's Jacket.
    You men of talent, wit and lore, I hope you'll pay attention
    And grace my rude expressions in the tale I'm going to mention,
    And if you deign to join with me, I'll think it well and good
    While I tell a little story of our neighbour
    Peter Flood.
    It's of a liner jacket that this man got of late,
    Which is my instigation of commencing here to treat,
    For since this late foreign war began*, the clothing go so high,
    That it left a deal like him and me unable for to buy.
    And the coat he had for everday and Sunday's heretofore,
    It wasn't then and scuffed, it was, but ragged, bold and tore,
    So when Peter thought of Winter and seen his little shade,
    That he'd have a chilly time of it, the poor man got afraid,
    One evening as he quit his work and
