    The Potatoe Crop
    The potatoes are the most generally used vegetable in the world.
    They are mostly used for dinner purposes.
    There are many different varieties of potatoes such as Champion, Kerr-pinks, Dates, Genny-danes, British queens and others.
    Some of these potatoes are used at different times of the year-old are early and some are late.
    Before setting the potatoes the ground must first be prepared, by means of a plough. Then the making of the drills come next, which are made by a different plough. Then the manure is spread in them to give the young potatoes food.
    While the farmers are doing this part of the work, their wives are cutting the potatoes for seed.
    When those are ready the women or small boys or girls tie aprons round their
