  1. The people considered certain days unlucky and would not move to a new home on Saturday; they considered - "A Saturday's flit is a short sit."
They considered it good to start planting potatoes, beans, etc on Good Friday.
Whit Sunday was thought unlucky and a dangerous day to go near water for fear of being drowned; and Whit Monday an unlucky birth day.
To put out the ashes on May Day would bring bad luck to the house.
Getting the first water from a well on 1st May would bring good luck.
Putting out ashes before the butter was taken off the milk caused little to be got from the churn.
