    Ropes
    People cut bogdeal root & put them in the cow house to dry. When dry they peeled they twisted them & they were a very useful rope.
    Candles
    For Christmas a cow was usually killed. All her fat was gathered, melted in a large vessel, poured into moulds & left harden.
    Hasps
    The people used timber hasps as they knew nothing latches.
    Weaving
    All the clothing used in olden times was home-made. When the sheep were sheared the wool was washed & combed. After being dried thoroughly it was woven into thread.
    Thatching
    The houses were thatched with rye
