  1. About 20 years ago Mr. Ring's drapery establishment in Castlecomer was burnt to the ground. One of the assitans had only escaped by means of a ladder when the roof collapsed.
    It was a great pity to see all the material and concerns of the place burning and nothing could be saved.
    There was a large stock and it kept burning for two days and two nights. The Fire Brigade came from Kilkenny. It was a week before it was completely quenched. No life was lost.
