    When Timothy Holland's grandfather was growing up (about 100 years ago) a teacher used to spend a few nights in that house each week teaching the Holland's and their neighbours.

    There was an old school between Patrick Griffin's house Burren and the present school cross. It had a thatch roof. It was not under the National Board. The pupils paid the master some few shillings. He, the master, used to stay in the farmer's houses in the locality He used stay in the houses at present owned by Jeremiah ONeill of Maryboro or Clouncallabeg and Mr. Kingston of Maryboro. Also in James OMahony's and Jeremiah OMahony's both of Cloundereen.
