- My Aunt told me that in the Famine Times the people used to eat coarse Indian meal boiled, with thick milk, for their breakfast. For their dinner they would have meal and milk and sometimes they might have rye bread and milk and perhaps for their supper they would have a cake made of yellow meal.
The people were stronger and healthier in those times than now because they used to eat what the land produced.
