- Basket making was carried on in this locality in olden times and is carried on at Tallow Bridge at present. A man named Michael Quinlan is making the baskets now and his father and grand father before him carried on the trade.
The baskets are made out of twigs which are woven in and out and some of the twigs are crossing the others.
These baskets are solid and lasting but are never coloured and are made more use than for beauty.
Mr. Quinlan usually gets his twigs at a place called [Parkdota] near Tallow.
When making the baskets he first skins the twigs and then softens and at the same time whitens them by boiling.
