    pit to be made and he put the horse, and hounds into it and then shot them. The pit was then covered in and again with a heavy limestone flag and can be seen there near the front door to the present day. It is said that people passing at midnight and later have heard the hounds and the sound of the horn.
    A big black dog has been seen between Crogans Turn, Creeves, and Newbridge, Rathcale, at midnight barks at people but is harmless. he accompanied a man to Reidy's gate Cooltonin, Shanagolden, and then disappears, the man's name being Mr. Tim Downey of Creeves.
