  1. In the townland of Newtown and in the parish of Rahan there is a fairy fort. It is situated in the centre of a field owned by Nicholas Clavin. It covers about half an acre and there are a great many bushes growing on top of the fort.
    Sometimes music is heard in it at night. About twenty year ago a man named Mr Bolton cut a bush in the fort. The next day he became ill and after two days he died. During the space of a year all the Bolton family died.
