    Weight-throwers:-
    Dave Cearney of Ballygarret used to throw the 16lb hammer from the river bank at Coolnamuck bridge across over the road to the other side. This bridge is very high.
    Jumpers:-
    Maurice Harris could jump up and catch the top of any bridge and then jump over it without touching it.
    Walkers:-
    Maurice Whelan or the Gealt walked from Park to Comeragh in a little over two hours.
    Runners:-
    John McGrath of Knocknacreha ran a race around Clondonnell and Curraheen and home by Ballycullane and Kilbrack a distance of about eight miles in an hour and a half. Two others competed in the race. One arrived at the starting point an hour later but the other gave up after the first mile.
