- (continued from previous page)The tinkers go around in crowds. Their property is a few carts, a few horses, a goat or two a few greyhounds to protect them and lot of asses for selling. One day I saw 20 asses with them. They pitch their tents down a small road and they let their animals out to graze. They light their fire with turf and they boil their kettle by sticking a bit of iron into a ditch and by hanging the kettle from it. One day I saw them have cheese for their supper.
- The gipsies are another class much the same as the tinkers except that they sell linoleum and carpet. If they think that you will buy from them they will charge twice the price. If you say you won't buy it they will reduce the price.
