    Once upon a time there lived a poor widow and her son...

    was sitting up on a high tree and the cattle were some distance off. He saw three giants walking round the field and he threw a small stone at one of them and he hit him on the head. The giant thought it was his brother who hit him and he said "you better stop or else I will stop you." The boy threw another stone and hit the giant again and he thought it was his brother, again. He caught hold of him and killed him. The next day the boy let in his cows into the giant's land and
