- There is an old road about four miles east of Claremorris leading from Carroreagh to Caraun. This road was made about a hundred and fifty years ago. It is leading to a bog. It was made by a lot of men who are all dead now. It is not of much use now. The men got fourpence a day as wages.
From it is another narrow little road leading to a Mass-Stone between Carroreagh and Caraun. There are traces of the Mass-Stone there still and there are lines of stones marking the walls which were later built around it.- Collector
