    Since Pagan times bonfires are lit on the hillsides. Then some chosen person runs over the fields with a piece of the fuel so that these fields may produce good crops afterwards.

    Old people do not go near water, because they are afraid of being drowned, and they do not go to sleep because they are afraid they will never waken again.
    Mat Day.
    On the first day of may the farmers plant a tree in the midden (manure heap) to keep evil away from their house,
