  1. This ballad was composed by Father Mullen, Clar, Donegal, thanking Mr Patrick Gildea, Screen, Donegal for turf which he brought to him in the month of October 1937.
    Dear Pat, many thanks for your big cart of turf,
    But I trust that without it you will have enough.
    Its hard to expect at this time of year,
    With coal not so good, and the price very dear.
    But I hope to repay you at some future date,
    If only at Clar by escaping the plate.

    I know your a man that likes a wee drop at will,
    And your turf would be useful for boiling a still.
