  1. This ballad was composed by Mr J. Mc Glinchey of Drimanardagh, Co. Donegal, after the Orange men tried to march through Donegal Town on the 12th July 1898
    I
    On last July, the Orange cry was raised God save the Queen,
    Down with the Pope and clergy and down with Erin's green.
    They boasted William's heritage and drank their leaders health,
    They swore they'd walk in Papist blood upon the following Twelfth.
    II
    They boasted they would celebrate the glories of the Boyne,
    In Donegal and to that end, their various bands would join,
    But oh! they were afraid that day, to walk our
