    houses.
    The people that had plenty of money had slate roofs on their houses. They thatched their houses with straw and rushes. They grew the straw themselves.

  2. Old Houses
    In the olden times the people would make a lamp of a paint box. They would put a hole in the bottom with a neal and put in a string in the box and light it with a chip of far and put wire round the head of it the way they would carry it. In olden times the people made candles out of pigs lard or the fat of a pig. They made as many as would do them all winter.
    When they were going out any place they would get a jamuig and light a bit of fur and put the bit of fur in the jamuig the way the bit of fur would not go out.
    In the olden times the gavel was built with morter and some times they would put sticks in it for fear that it would fall. Their was no glass in the window and in the daytime they would
