  1. Peter O' Driscoll was drowned in Dunmanus Bay on a Sunday evening in July 1937. Himself and three other men were sailing from Akahista, and the rope that was tying the sail broke, and one of the men climbed the mast to repair it and he overbalanced the boat. The boat turned and the four men were thrown into the water. Peter Driscoll was thrown farther away than the rest. Three succeeded in hanging on to the boat until they were rescued by another boat. They were in an exhausted condition. Peter O' Driscoll's body was recovered two days afterwards nearly in the same place where he went down.
