  1. Near Mount-Henry about four miles south of the town of Portarlington stands the ruins of an old house which was supposed to be haunted. It is said that when the men were building it a beggar-man came to them and told them not to build it there, and if they did the people who would live in it would not live in it long. But the men only laughed and kept on building. When the house was finished people came to live in it. When they went to bed at night
