- We grow about one acre of potatoes every year, and we always sow about that amount.
We use them all either for ourselves or for the animals and fowl. We sell none. My father ploughs the land for them. If the land is lea he makes ridges of it. He puts six scribes in every ridge. If the land is stubble he makes drills for the potatoes. He first ploughs the stubble and then he harrows it. The soil on our farm is very brittle and sandy(continues on next page)
