- (continued from previous page)chains fastened in the stalls to the manger, to tie the cows. They are tied around the neck. The tie is called a "bail". If sheep require tying a spancel it is put on its legs. A spancel is also used to tie an ass or a horse also.
The horse has a rack at the end of its stall for hay. It has a small trough for oats. We give it mashes of bran in a bucket. We tie the horse in the stable by means of a head-halter and chain.
