On this page
- (continued from previous page)it was a dismal sight,
While one man on an oar
for his life did dearly fight
Hard hearted men I then replied
Why did you pass then by
When I loud to you for help did call
to hear the drowning cry
O! why not you your boat bring through,
Those precious souls to save
With pity they besought you
to snatch them from the waves
Those drowning men to mention
I may feel well inclined
But afeared of friends it might offend
By calling them to mind.
Before I do lay down my pen.
There is one request I pray
to pray for those poor souls
who met with watery graves
