    Jack went out as usual with his herds next morning. The master as well as all the people of the land proceeded the shore to see what would take place. The King had made a proclaimation that if anyone could be found who was brave to fight and kill the dragon he could have his daughter in marriage and would succeed him as King. All gathered to the appointed spot to see if any such man would 'turn up.'
