    field and he carrying the hurdle the

    He wanted the police to see him; you
    see. The minute they spotted him he
    ducked down; and the two policemen
    cut in over the ditch like hell and the
    devil. Sam waited until they were
    about two fields from him and then
    he attacked to run. Well, he kept
    them hunting him around for the whole
    evening around the land. When he
    was tired running anyway, and
    the peelers were damn near "bet" out
    the lad stopped. The peelers came up as
    they thought they had a right capture.
    Begob, they got a right sell when they
    saw 'twas only an ould hurdle he had
