  1. They was an oul woman one time, livin by herself, ni a cabin al- by the end of a boreen. 'Twas seldom, she seen anywan, except now an again, a neighbor might ramble ni. of an evenin.
    This evenin anyhow, an oul man came up to the door, to ask for ludgin for himself an his wife.
    I never takes in, ludger said the oul woman. for Im alone here, by myself suug an aisy.
    Ye'r a poor woman I know, says the oul man. but I wont be long. Till ye'll be rich says he.
    Why then, you look poor enough, yerself, says she, an' that-
