- I live in the townland of Guesdian, there is one large fort in it. The fort is made of earth. It is situated on fairly high ground. It is surrounded with a high bank, and a thick hedge of all kind of bushes grow in it, such as nuts, and sloes and strawberries. It is raised about five or six feet from the ground outside. It does not be tilled now but history says that an old man named Paddy Mullowney went to till it long ago. He marked it into ridges one evening and then went home, next morning when he came the ridges were all closed in again So he got afraid and done no more to it. You can see two other forts from it, one in Belcarra, and one Donamona. These forts are supposed to be intrenchments to guard the castle.
