LoonaSuppose to be named after a nephew of St. Patrick. The ruins of a very old church is still here.
WalshpoolA small lake of the same name is here. Family name very common in the district.

PrizonTibóid na Luing husband of Grania Uaille had a prison here. Portion of the stone building still remain. No road leads to this.
BrownhallOnce Coillte Colla. Later changed when Dominick Brown of Galway was given a grant of this land which belonged to Mayo Abbey.
PoolavaddyA swallow-hole here which drains a small lake probably gives its name to this townland.
Tochar PhádraicAn old road from near Balla Station to Loona over which St. Patrick is supposed to have travelled on his way to the Reek. It would then take him over the shortes bog route to Loona.- Collector
