    Ballykerrigan
    Until the evictions by the Nally's(?) in the Land League days there were families of the name Kerrigan in this place.

    Drimadoon - There is an old fort in this place.

    Ardboley
    Thought to be a high Buaile. Another similar name in Booleyard.

    Rathduff
    The black fort still is here. Gold is supposed to be buried there.

    Ballymakeogh - No families of the name now here

    Loona
    Suppose to be named after a nephew of St. Patrick. The ruins of a very old church is still here.

    Walshpool
    A small lake of the same name is here. Family name very common in the district.

    Dooras - Derivation uncertain

    Ballinagran
    The woods and trees have long ago disappeared

    Prizon
    Tibóid na Luing husband of Grania Uaille had a prison here. Portion of the stone building still remain. No road leads to this.

    Brownhall
    Once Coillte Colla. Later changed when Dominick Brown of Galway was given a grant of this land which belonged to Mayo Abbey.

    Poolavaddy
    A swallow-hole here which drains a small lake probably gives its name to this townland.

    Tochar Phádraic
    An old road from near Balla Station to Loona over which St. Patrick is supposed to have travelled on his way to the Reek. It would then take him over the shortes bog route to Loona.
