- (continued from previous page)There were wooden chimneys in the houses. There were two straight boards standing up as high as the roof. Then there were more boards nailed up all the way. They used to be a lot wider in the top than in the bottom. The back of the chimney was made of dob and turf.
They had small tin lamps with out any globes. They used to leave it standing on a saucepen of clay and sand. It used to be left on the table. When they used to have no oil they used to get rushes and peal them and dry them or some time they used to get bog deal. [?] They used to light it for a light. They hadn't much oil that time.
Thebcattle used to be tied with in at the house. They had no stables that time. They used to tie the cows to the sticks that were keeping up the roof.
All the cups and saucers were made of wood. They had bowls and plates also but they were made of wood.
There were houses in the bog and there were no glass in the window but they used to weave mats and put them(continues on next page)- Collector
