    There was a great man named Conn King. He lived in Cotton Town Claremorris. He was a great singer, and dancer. He was a great man for throwing heavy weights. He could jump rivers, and swim big lakes with an anvil on his back. He was also a great story teller. He was four feet high. He could carry two cwt. of meal home from the town on his bak. He lived until he was 90 years of age.
    John Murphy Garrymore, Cloghans Hill, Tuam won £100 for being the best runner two years ago in Co. Galway.
    John Nally Frenchgrove, Co. Mayo won a sum of money for being able to lift a 3 ton weight and being able to raise a sack of flour with his small finger.
    John Heaney Pullban Hollmount Co. Mayo won £52 for running, jumping and swimming. He often caught hares by following them. He jumped a wall 50 yds. high and swam out in the big ocean at Galway.
