Coirpre started early on a certain day, and walked from dawn to dark. He covered a great area and had his followers inside the boundary immediately. The Mayo chieftain was very vexed when he saw all the land that Coirpre had claimed. Still he gave his word, and he did not like to break it.
Although he married Callend, he never forgave her father for depriving him of so much land.
He ordered a great banquet in honour of Coirpre, but really with the intention of poisoning him. Poisoned wine was to be served to Coirpre during the feast. God made known to Callend the deed that was to be done.
She told her father and went in anger to Aodh and told him she would no longer live with him.
Callend then built a church and lived alone afterwards.
