- Some eighty years ago there lived at Ballymagibbon House near Cross, Claremorris, Co. Mayo a gentleman named John Fynn. Fynn was a noted proselytiyer and was head of Dippers. On his estate was a large peat bog which was reached by a road which ran by his demesne. In this bog many of the country people got their supplies of turf.
