Food in Olden Times
Now-a days bread is steamed but 20 or 30 years ago it was baked with turf and sticks
There was a cake made with oatmeal and potatoes that was called boxty.
It was called boxty because it was so hard to put together and took such awful pounding. There was also oatmeal cakes baked on a griddle and left 2 or 3 days till they would be as hard as stones. On the twelveth night there was a special cake made with 12 candles lighting on it.
