    turf a peice and make a little fire. When the summer would come, they used go out by the hedges and ditches and teach school and those were called Hedge Schools.
    The first National school that was built was in 1831. Then the people began to build little schools here and there. There was one school in Brickens and there was a man in it that had only one hand, his name was Mitchel Henry. He was one of the best writers in this county. Mitchel Henry was brought by the landlord- Mr Treston to teach the tenant's children. He served notices for non-
