Local tradition say that it and a church were there in the reign of Queen Elizabeth.
There are no inscribed stones bearing an earlier date than seventeen thirty seven and that stone records the name of a man named Rabbit.
There is a grave in Tulrahan cemetery known as "The Fool's Grave".
There is an old story that a fool was buried there and ignorant people buried him with his head towards the road thereby placing the tomb's stone at his feet.
