years and never wore shoes. Children go barefooted now during the summer until they are about sixteen years of age. Long ago when children were washing their feet the boys had o wash their feet before the girls were allowed to touch the water. The water was not thrown out until dark. When the woman of the house was throwing out the water she said "Chugat" so that she would not hit the fairies. There is only one shoemaker in the place now. Long ago there were four. The shoemaked made the shoes for the people of the place When a boy intended to be a shoemaker he was apprenticed to a shoemaker. The shoemaker never learned the trade from their fathers. About seventy years ago people used to put hides of cows and donkeys around their feet during the winter. People used to wear clogs long ago. The man that made them was called a clogger.
